Our Silent Heroes

Sydney Pendleton

Posted on June 04 2018

There is a brand new memorial in Neillsville, Wisconsin honoring dogs that belonged to the military service in Vietnam. About 5,000 dogs served as guard dogs or scouts in the Vietnam War. German Shepherds were the most common breed who served, as represented in the statue.

Only 200 were brought back to the United States safely, persuading former military working dog handlers to fight for stricter laws on returning their former dogs to their house. This fight continues on until there was legislation set to return dogs to the rightful heroes they worked alongside with.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice from all of us here at IRBWMD.
